The Devil Wears Parsley

Feed Your Inner Rock Star

Feed Your Brain, Rockstar!

It’s Friday! Finally! What a week.

It all started out with this past weekend. Last Friday we had a good friend over for dinner and went to a neighbor’s Halloween Party dressed as two different Cheech’s from the Cheech & Chong movie Up In Smoke. Angel was “Alice Bowie” – the character that plays a rockstar singing a song called “Earache My Eye.” I was just the normal one, complete with khaki’s and red suspenders.

Saturday and Sunday was the long awaited Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit Convention + Expo.

PMA Fresh Summit 2012

It was quite an eye-opening event! There were what seemed to be a million vendors there, with their produce and produce related products connecting with people in the industry, making deals, finding distributors, finding a produce washing system that will make their lives easier. It was overwhelming and beautiful!

There will be many posts in the very near future detailing my experience there. So incredibly fun! Many many thanks to Patti Londre and the Idaho Potato Commission for the unique opportunity to attend this beast!

Look at those produce giants, will ya!? Del Monte, Dole, California Avocado Commission!

Saturday night was yet another Halloween party! I’m telling you, it was GO GO GO all weekend! We got to meet up with some good friends & family!

The rest of the week was dedicated to Halloween. I finished up house decorations, carved pumpkins, and put together some healthy treats for the kiddies! We had more trick-or-treaters than normal, and we actually ran out of the “healthy” goodies! Next year we’ll just have to make more! The “healthy” goodies were cute little cellophane bags filled with Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds, dried apple rings, banana chips, and dried cherries. Yum yum!

Long recap for this past week, but so many wonderful things happened! I can’t wait to share more from that PMA Fresh Summit. It was A-MA-ZING!!

Until then, here’s your brain food for the week. I was SO busy that I didn’t have much time to surf, but here are two good ones. Next week will be different! Pinkie swear!

  • Carrots are universal! Are you skeptical that carrots can be used as the main component in a dish? Think again!
  • Kimberly Snyder discusses the different types of food illnesses/poisoning and how to avoid them!
  • I hope you had a spooky Halloween! Get lots of good rest this weekend, and prepare yourself for the other holidays that are lurking around the corner!

    Jack-o-lantern grins,
